I have several Google Alerts set to certain topics that I frequently blog about (so I can keep tabs on new developments). One thing that really annoys me is when I get an alert, and a site is in the alert with content scraped directly from my own article! GRRR!
There is absolutely no reason why scraper sites shouldn’t be nuked from the web, and the individuals running the scheme should be forever banned from all things internet. Who wants to click on some search result, only to be directed to a page that is completely incoherent? With plagiarized/copyright infringed content pieced together? It is just absurd.
Or what Google should do is this: Find the IP address of these people running the scraper sites. Then, they should create an algorithm to garble up a bunch of nonsense search results each time that IP does a search. I wonder how they would like to read their own nonsense junk? I’ll bet the would complain.
Anyway, I appreciate that Google does make an effort to quickly weed out these non-valuable sites from the web. I can’t wait until one day these scraped sites are gone forever, and people stop even trying to do this sort of thing.
